A car is highly recommended to explore the town and the island. Taxis and public transportation are limited (Uber is not really a thing down here).
Even though Isabela is a coastal beach town, we enjoy tropical climate throughout the year. That being said, insects like mosquitoes, harmless garden spiders, ants, moths and some other bugs or geckos can be a part of the landscape. And although we employ pest control services regularly, some could enter the home, specially if doors are left open. Please help us keep bugs at bay by keeping doors closed when away.
Bug spray can be found under the kitchen sink.
As you may know, living on a tropical island comes with a few quirks! From time to time, Puerto Rico’s utility services may undergo maintenance or brief interruptions, especially after storms or heavy rains. These are usually short and handled quickly, and we truly appreciate your patience if it happens during your stay.
To keep you comfortable, YUMA is equipped with a battery backup system that automatically powers the entire home during an outage. It’s designed to make things as seamless as possible. We kindly ask that you conserve energy while it’s running by avoiding high-power appliances, so the backup lasts longer.
Please note that for optimal performance, the A/C is not connected to the battery system and won’t operate during an outage but trust us, the ocean breeze and YUMA’s cozy design will make you forget it ever happened.
